When asked, " How many blue jackets do I need in my wardrobe?" I always answer, half-jokingly, the same thing: " You can never have too many." Seriously though, I'd say that, at a minimum, if we want a good wardrobe foundation, we should have three types of navy blazers:

Formal blazer: Preferably in a dark blue tone so it can be combined with any dress pants.

Semi-formal blazer: We could use one with a classic pattern and the detail of some collegiate-inspired metal buttons.

Sport jacket: The ideal is to choose an unstructured garment, without lining, with patch pockets and more casual details.

When it comes to styling a navy blazer, as you can see in the video in this post, the possibilities are as endless as your imagination. I've chosen four:

Classic: With a dress shirt , formal trousers, and a tie . Perfect for going to the office or a meeting.
Cool: One of my favorites. With a t-shirt (preferably white, navy, or gray) and dress pants . A look I wear whenever the situation allows. Ideal for informal events.
Urban: Combined with comfortable and versatile pieces like a denim shirt, chinos , or a cardigan . A style that works perfectly for any day out in the city.
Relaxed: Weather permitting, I like to leave my dress shirt at home and wear a navy blazer with a polo shirt . Lately, I've been opting for a polo shirt that matches the blazer.

Regardless of the fabrics and finishes of each garment, you must take into account its details. While a patch pocket provides a casual air, the metal buttons or the ticket pocket provide seriousness. If we learn to play with these elements we can give our looks the air we want on any occasion.
